I always thought life was simple. If things didn't work out, you just moved on. But then, an obstacle with murky green eyes and the stubbornness of a donkey appeared. He became a round-the-clock nightmare, a pain in the butt, the wall against which my life's foundation leaned. He drank my resistance, my fear, my soul – becoming an eclipse from which I don't know if I'll ever emerge.

A rootless orphan, a true misfit, I never managed to be a proper husband or father. Why was I merely shaken, not destroyed? While others leave a trail of achievements and errors, my past is a vast wasteland. Everyone receives a second chance, and fate presented one to me. It made a home with me, brazenly insisting on being loved, teaching me to accept what's given and offered. She's a restless tumbleweed, settling not only in my kitchen but much, much deeper within me.
