Abstract of the book "The Lord of Wolf Mountain"
Milena wakes up in the middle of a wild forest with no memory of how she got there. Panic grips her, but soon she meets a group of strangers who help her reach the nearest village. But something is wrong... Strange customs, unfamiliar places, old clothes - and the sudden realization that this world is not her own. Has she fallen into the past? But how? And most importantly - why?

tetiana23.09.2025, 00:23I tried to finish reading, but no, I can’t… I’ll try to avoid spoilers. Overall, everything is very clichéd, somehow childish. The characters are flat, uninteresting. Up to the part with the jewelry-hotel-birthday-engagement, I still tried to read responsibly, but then it became so formulaic that I started skipping chunks of text. I finally gave up at the moment when the main character “forgot how to breathe” upon seeing that the blond guy (whom she herself mentioned maybe 3-4 times throughout the story and even started falling for someone else) had found someone new after 3 years. Maybe it’s aimed at teenagers, and I’m already too old to believe in such a story, I don’t know… As for the text – there are a lot of Russianisms and calques. Sometimes it felt like it was written in another language and then translated into Ukrainian. I suggest enriching your vocabulary a bit, no offense, just reread some classics to add more color. Well, if we’re talking about old times, it should be “lastovynnia” instead of “vesnianky,” and so on. The world and everyday life also seem underdeveloped to me. The author could dive deeper into the medieval theme: a mirror in a village house is highly unlikely, just like a palace for a warlike prince instead of a castle or fortress, or a soft armchair instead of just a chair.

It reads in one breath. Very emotional, mystical, and sincere. I recommend it to everyone who loves Ukrainian flavor and magic.

This adds "authenticity" to the story. The writing itself, the descriptions of the characters' emotions and nature, are balanced and touching...
