About the book

Did you know that right next to our familiar world there is another one, inhabited by creatures similar to humans, but displaced from their usual habitat? These are the spirits of earth, water, air, and fire, which our ancestors once told about in myths, fairy tales, and legends. Are they as hostile to the human race as they want to appear? And how can Mira, a girl who accidentally found herself in that other world, now return home?

Everything is bad, worse, even worse. Oh, the problem is solved, because a new one is rolling in. I read only out of curiosity, wondering how it would all end. Is there even a glimmer of hope for something better anywhere? Everything is gray, dull, and full of obstacles. Both that world and this one are a multitude of disheartening trials. A joyless story. Depressive. Not at all fantasy, as Booknet recommended, but rather depressive surrealism. The only way I can explain it is that the author probably went through a tough COVID period and poured all her pain into her work.

Olena, thank you for your feedback! Perhaps you were expecting some light humorous fantasy, and this novel is too philosophical. But I wouldn’t say it’s depressing. You’re the first to describe it that way. Although, of course, everyone is different, and that’s wonderful, because otherwise life would be boring)

I’ve finished reading. What a very unconventional fantasy... But I’m glad that Svit and Mira were able to overcome the boundary, all its ghosts, that strange Master, Makar, who let them go. The monsters of the boundary, it seems, were really just the fears of those Sons and the people who were settled at the border. What I appreciate is the realism. Despite everything, they reached Mira’s world, which is not perfect but dear to her, and partly Svit’s as well. There are many challenges, but together they can overcome anything, even Drug returned to them, though now as a little puppy. For some reason, I want to believe that they are happy. After all, they found each other, and that’s already a great happiness. And there really is no perfect world or country. I’ve come to realize this from my own experience. A foreign country is truly like another world, with its own customs, laws, even language. And though the sun also rises in the East here, everything feels different... Home is better. I miss it and want to go back...

Svit surprised with his proposal to marry Mira, but it seems he’s not actually indifferent to her. He just hasn’t realized it himself. And he’s even jealous of Zlat:))))) I wonder if that Zlat and the water granny will help her find a way home? Of course, Zlat doesn’t believe in the existence of airplanes, phones, phones, the internet. Mira also didn’t believe in all sorts of monsters and people with green blood... But they do exist. By the way, maybe she’ll find out something about her father? Maybe he really is one of the Sons? And with Svit, they make a great couple. A real marriage:)) I hope one day they’ll figure out that they love each other ;)

An interesting story, intertwined with Mira's adventures and excerpts from the Book of Earth... But they have curious customs, quarantine for newcomers in a prison cell... Not very hospitable. Of course, they’re not thrilled about outsiders, but if the border between worlds is so close, they could at least behave a bit more politely or something... I hope that when Mira is taken to that border, they’ll at least explain what’s going on and where she has ended up. The Book of Earth reminded me of the Bible. I wonder, is there a full version, or are these really just excerpts? The presentation of these short parables (or whatever they’re properly called) is nice, with references to the page and chapter.

Regarding the 'great illusion,' there's an idea that our entire world is a simulation... and cells, molecules, atoms... and so on are just macro, mini, and micro programs or codes... although no, the last part is me getting carried away, but it seems plausible))) It fits into this theory))) and even magic...

The work is wonderful, rich, simply a feast for the imagination))) Just one remark. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether "Svit" means the world or a name))) especially at the beginning of a sentence. But on the other hand, how beautiful "my Svit" sounds. Thank you for the great fantasy.
