About the book

Alena Severina had never searched for another life, but she had spent years trying to understand the old one. At forty, she was left completely alone with a quiet, empty house. She knew everything about people — how the mind breaks, how cleanliness can save a person, how those whom nobody hears manage to survive. When she found herself on the cold shores of Scandinavia, trapped in the body of a widow with two small children, no home, no money, and no protection, she had to learn all over again: how to keep others warm, how to heal, how to negotiate, how to live. Here, people did not believe in words. They believed in what worked. Clean water. Warm walls. Fish preserved for winter. Calmness in a human voice. And most of all — love that comes not as salvation, but as the choice of two grown

This chapter is painfully quiet. That silence that is not empty, but filled with years of endurance and inexpressible fatigue. Her inner loneliness resonated here very much. Without drama and pathos — just real, even and very human.
