The boss
About the book
Julio César Betancourt holds one of the highest positions in a multi-company consortium. He's a solitary and reserved man, with few friends, the kind who doesn't let just anyone get close. One night at a corporate gathering, after learning he won't be promoted to the position he's been hoping for, he drinks too much and ends up entangled with the receptionist, a humble young woman working hard to pay for her studies—plans that will be derailed by the consequences of a passionate night with the company's second-in-command. She's not the woman he would have chosen to take to bed. He's not the charming prince she thought he was. Life will bind them together with a bond neither of them will want to break.

I get that he's bothered by Julio César being Verónica's partner, but he acts like a little kid wanting her to keep her distance from him, even though he knows they'll always be in each other's lives. They'll always be connected in some way; they have a daughter, for God's sake.
ilovedavegandy07.04.2026, 20:28Oh God, I want to cry, I got a lump in my throat, he cried for his little girl!!! But he was also stubborn in saying he didn’t want to be in her life, but... blood calls, in the end, poor Julio César, he brought this on himself.
