I’ve reread the argument between Mela and Max several times, but I’m still on Melania’s side. There wasn’t anything so serious there to justify kicking Mela out of the apartment over jealousy and thinking that she really threw that flowerpot at the car. Max behaved very poorly; it feels like he deliberately distanced himself from Melania. Because if the argument was emotional and we don’t think about what we say in the heat of the moment, then the next day he should have cooled down, just like Mela did, and assessed the situation soberly. But instead, he attacked her again, even when the grandmother came, he wanted to pay her off because, apparently, she doesn’t do anything for free.
