A Game of Innocence
About the book
Yar had been watching Slava while pretending to be a shy, awkward nerd—just to stay under the radar. His mission was to protect her without ever stepping out of the shadows. But when she finds herself at the center of a game with much higher stakes than she could ever imagine, he has no choice but to intervene. Slava was living a normal student life — until secrets from the past pulled her into a dangerous game. First came the anonymous threat letters. Then, the creeping sense of being watched. And always nearby, that strange fellow student who never seems to leave her side. Yaroslav... Quiet, invisible, a total nerd. But the more she tries to figure him out, the clearer it becomes: he’s hiding something.

olena-golovach15.03.2026, 22:20How pleasant it is to read a book without mistakes. Lately, for some reason, I've come across some poor-quality translations, even without editing. Your book has been a delight for the eyes, and the original plot - for the soul. The beginning reminded me of Clark Kent, also a bespectacled journalist in disguise, but the plot development became unexpected. And the ending with the uncle and Yaroslav's escape - it completely blew my mind. A happy ending for us girls is a must-have attribute of a good book. So, thank you very much, Ms. Nataliya, for this incredibly interesting book; I’m happy to add it to my collection.

gogolaleks22.12.2025, 01:16I kept putting off this book for a long time, but I liked it. It’s a bit sad, and it was interesting until the end, though I still have some questions. What about Yar’s parents? Yar’s uncle said they were killed, but by whom? Why didn’t Yar investigate this further and just let it go? Yes, it was mentioned why they died, but still, who exactly did it? Why didn’t he seek revenge or try to find out more? How is his relationship with his uncle? After all, they were close, and he raised him. I’d like to read more about the sisters. According to her, she and her brother were very close, but they barely saw each other throughout the book—only twice, as far as I remember, and that’s it. Did her father ever come to love his wife? Also, I’d love to read a book about Dana and her story because, judging by how they appeared together, there’s quite some chemistry between them, and that’s intriguing. Even though some questions remain unanswered, the book was still interesting.
